The Owl and the Pussycat

It's always a surprise to see what emerges from a painting - that's what I love, not really having control until the last marks are made. So here's The Owl and the Pussycat in their pea green boat! It's mixed media on wood (wood is so forgiving - I can scrape as much as I want).

  1. What a wonderful pea-green boat!
To me it is full of violin players; I can count six. I know that Owl played a guitar, but I see violins.
I do hope they don't encounter any more rough seas like this, before they tie the knot!
    It is really fun....
Evie, can you see musicians playing violins.
    It is a joy!!!!

  2. sue, your powers of imagination are wonderful. I had a good look and did find two violin players!! I'd be interested to know where the others are!!

  3. They are situated between the two you probably found. They do need more artictic licence to 'see' them. (I don't think artistic licence are quite the right words to use...but you'll know what I mean!) They are partially hidden by a bright light, but they are there!!
I imagine the six to be the 'First Violins' in the orchestra of an ocean- going liner from the twenties; transported to the pea green boat of course!
My imagination is sometimes a scary place to be.
