Encaustic - There's No Place Like Home

I'm a home bird although I can make my nest anywhere in the world - and have done - but my home is very important to me.

Even the house shape occurs frequently in my art and I never tire of it. So here's my latest little encaustic piece which is in my Wee Art Things shop on Etsy:

Bravo Blogger Help

I can't praise blogger help enough - so many people out there willing to give their time and expert help. I now have a way to add images once again.

So here are a couple of little encaustics I finished a few days ago - just experimenting really with various techniques.

New encaustic pieces

I'm still unable to post pictures here and thought I could do it from my flickr account, but that doesn't work either.

So my new work is here if you want to have a peek: http://www.flickr.com/photos/liquoriceallsorts/

Little Bit of Wax

I've been experimenting some more with beeswax and I really love working with it. It's completely different from anything I've ever done before and so interesting. It's more immediately forgiving than paint and this gives total freedom in the creating process.

I don't know what's going on with blogger, I've not been able to upload any pictures for 2 days now. I tried all the usual remedies but it won't work. Hope it gets sorted fast!

My First Encaustic Paintings

It's taken ages to get all my equipment together - we here in the UK really are the poor cousins of the US, I can never easily find art supplies that are a bit more than oils, watrcolours and acrylics.

Today I launched into my encaustic journey and I'm hooked already. Here are my first pieces - the first has imbedded pieces of plant life which was fun to do, but I think I prefer the second one - it just seems more spontaneous.

Kitchen Matters

Here is the finished painting that I've been wittering on about for the past while.

I realize that it was weighing heavily on me because the turmoil in my head came to an end. Yesterday was a sunny day with blue skies and I went for a walk. Visited the Modern Art Gallery and saw a lithograph and monoprint exhibition by Munch and Tracy Emin. Attended to some correspondence that I'd ignored. And felt just great to be alive!!
