Glorious Flowers

My garden seems to have done better this year and I suppose it's due to the warm, even hot, weather here in Scotland.

I planted old-fashioned flowers and it's a riot of colour - peonies, poppies, delphiniums, foxgloves, sweet peas, hydrangeas and more!!

Here are peonies which
  are really enormous:

First time for everything

I was walking in town having stopped at Curry's to ask for help with my camera -very helpful assistant but my photos are still blue, oh well.... when I saw that Debenhams were highlighting eyebrow shaping so in I went.

I've never had that done before and so wasn't sure of how they do it. Thought it was wax - but no, it was done using twisted thread and boy did it hurt!!! She gave me tea tree oil to use twice a day for the redness. What redness?? I must have skin tough as old boots LOL.

Give yourself a treat - the pain was instantly forgotten a bit like childbirth - well maybe that's taking it a bit too far haha!!!

First Pottery Attempt

I've been going to pottery classes where I do handbuilding only - I don't have any inclination to use the wheel but the others are really good at it and making some lovely things.

It's not as easy as it looks!! I brought home my first pieces which have been fired and I had put some stain on and they were fired again and I wasn't very happy with them probably because they were dark clay colour. So I thought why not paint them?? And I did and they're transformed and now I'm pleased with what I've made.

Here they are:

Artist Memories

I was reading a brilliant blog tonight and followed a link to Luann Udell's blog which got me thinking.

I remember on a visit to Vienna I went to see Gustav Klimt's paintings - I was so overcome that my eyes filled with tears. I wanted to hide till everyone had gone and spend the night there - just me and Klimt!

I've been to many museums in Florence, Venice and Rome, but I've never experienced the emotion that Klimt's art awakened in me.

Exhibition Paintings

I bought a luggage trolley for my paintings so as to be able to get them on the train. I'm going to set up my paintings and some fabric art dolls for the Forth Valley Open Studios which starts tomorrow.

I haven't taken photos of my new artwork yet but will post them as soon as I can.

That's me on the cover of Sew Somerset!

Oh what a thrill to be featured in Sew Somerset and to be their cover girl. I hope you'll forgive my exuberance, nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

I have similar fabric covered journals for sale on Folksy.

Dreamaid Charity

I've joined the ethical charity Dreamaid which supports new social enterprise in the developing world. A percentage of the selling price, chosen by the seller, goes automatically to the charity.

There are items from all over the world - have a look!!
