I've finished another box canvas and this one is special because I found some beautiful vintage handmade lace a few days ago and been dying to use it. It is called 'Henrietta' and the words read "Her soul expanded and put out her wings". It's here on ebay --

Becca - box canvas
Even though it's very hot (can this really be Scotland??) I seem to be on an arty roll and can't be bothered with TV, I just wanna create stuff. I bought some original French legal documents at an antiques fair but couldn't bring myself to cut them up -sacrilege!! So I used a copy, and stained it with walnut crystals, and a bit of this and a bit of that -- and it's here on ebay

A little piece of frippery
I have been trying to finish this collage for a couple of days which involved unpicking, bits of ribbon sewn on and then taken off, what a palaver - and then today I knew just what it needed - so it's finished. The piece of vintage lace looks like it could have been sewn onto a wedding dress, I found it at an antiques market and have been dying to use it. Anyway, I've listed it on ebay...

Today's art
I've had a really self-indulgent day pottering in the garden with tropical temperature, eating alfresco, and the odd glass of vino and a good book - what more could I want. But, the creative urge is so strong and I couldn't ignore it any longer. So I went inside to finish a wallhanging I did with various types of texture on fabric, paint, beads, burning, machine and hand stitching, gold hints, and the gold hanger which I picked up in a charity shop and was given free!! I'm keeping this for myself - end of self-indulgence haha¬ it measures 18 x 14" and here it is:

Cream and Lace (+ Italy)
I have to start by saying how very proud I am to be Italian after Italy's glorious winning of the World Cup yesterday. Such enthusiasm in whatever they do - e viva l'Italia!!!!!!!
I've been wanting to do something in whites and creams and started a fabric book but it's far from being finished. So I made a wallhanging out of old linens and a lovely Victorian metal finding, and a delicate piece of necklace with green beads and metal stars. For more information see here on Etsy.

Competing with Fear
I did something I've been wanting to do for a long time, but lacked the courage. I passed by a favourite shop that sells the work of various artists - jewellery, sculpture, felted items, the list goes on. But on Friday, I saw a large painting in their window and thought to myself 'ohh, the time is nigh!'. So I went in and ... they are willing to consider my paintings for sale. I just have to take one in and their buyer will let me know. So, wish me luck - it won't happen for a while if they decide to take some as the Edinburgh International Festival starts next month and they're busy with that. Very excited!!! Also very pleased with my having won over my fear!

pottering today
I have at least 4 arty things on the go and am not seeing much headway. This is peppered with watching Wimbledon and the odd football match in the world cup - that's saying something as I'm not at all the sporty type. Have also tidied up my 'playroom' and can see what colour the carpet is. Off now to see if I can find anything on my very tidy shelves!!
