Seven Spoons

I stumbled across this blog and wanted to tell you about it. There are recipes galore and the photography is second to none. The Eton Mess is so mouth watering, it makes me want to rush into the kitchen and cook!

More Felting News

I washed the knitwear at the highest temperature - wrong choice!! They're felted alright - but loads too much. I tried to make some flower brooches but the wool is too thick so it didn't work too well. They don't lie flat - maybe they're not supposed to be flat....but they are lovely!

I'm going to look for some more today and try again!!

Felting

I went to a charity shop to find some knitwear that was all wool or maybe 90 percent - do you know how hard it is - there are so many 'wool' mixtures containing manmade fibres, and they won't felt.

Anyway, I did manage to find two, one of which has a fair isle yoke. I washed them at 90 degrees and hey presto they're beautifully felted. I now want to experiment making brooches - if they're decent I'll post a picture.

The Touch of Humour

"Everything at IKEA is self-assembly. I bought a pillow, and they gave me a duck" Todd glass

A Wee Favour/Gift bag

I saw something in a book and wanted to try to make one. The first of anything takes more time but I really like how it turned out. It's a vintage style favour or gift bag in peach.

Bad Day for That Car

There's been a very snazzy car parked outside my house for days in a pay and display area. Today I noticed it had a parking ticket on it. Thought 'that's strange' where is the driver - gone on holidays??

And then I heard the dreaded clanking and it was put on a tow-away lorry - going to be expensive getting it back.

Papier Mache is about to happen!

I'm dying to try some papier mache things and have got all the stuff I need. To get some rigidity, I thought I'd use chicken wire as a base - need to put on some old leather gloves though, it can be quite nasty!

I've read somewhere that old book pages are better paper than newspapers. But of course I got rid of a stack of books recently, will I ever learn!

Almost didn't...

....post my entry for day 17 of the July Jesters on Folksy. But I rallied and gave in, so here is MIRABELLA, Art Doll - great fun to make. I was a dolly child and I suppose it's just something you never lose at any age LOL.

Dentist and shopping

I had a filling done this morning and I was starving but unable to eat or drink, in fact I could hardly talk, my mouth was so numb. So I thought a bit of retail therapy would take my mind off the hunger. And it worked!!

The autumn ranges are beginning to trickle into the shops and the colours are lovely, lots of soft peaches, and naturals - I had a ball!!

Scale Dividers

My scale dividers arrived today. They're much bigger than I expected but that's even better. There are 11 widths to chose from. I have a really large canvas that is intimidating me to start painting. But I can see that it's going to be, well not easy, but easier!!

I've changed the look of my blog

I think it looks very striking! I'd really like to create my own but Typepad doesn't allow that. Love these colours!

A bit of a red face!

I was in town today and thought I'd have a browse in Zara's sale. Loads of stuff marked down - so I thought I'd ask as assistant if they had more of the trousers I was wearing. We couldn't find the label so she took me to the fitting room and, guess what, the ones I had on were from H&M - luckily she found it amusing!!

A bit all over the place

After watching the tennis at Wimbledon (not in person LOL) I find that now that it's finished, I can't get into the creative swing again. Hope it doesn't last too long.

But my pottery class finished yesterday and I brought my latest pieces home. Now that they're glazed, I like them. And the end result is never predictable, that's what makes it so interesting. Wish I had room for my own kiln! I also learned how to make moulds yesterday - these I can make at home.

Anyway, here they are Flo, Jo and Beau
