Dishy Chef and Ice Cream

I went to Taste of Edinburgh on Friday - there were top notch chefs there doing demos and the highlight was seeing Jean-Christophe Novelli in the flesh, much more handsome than he is on TV, and his charming French accent - hmmm dishy (pun intended). This photo doesn't do him justice.

I enjoyed a 99 ice cream sold from Luca's original Rolls Royce ice cream van and in a Waverley cone - a bit nostalgic as the Waverley Biscuit Factory was our family business.

Fine Art Print MARA

You have no idea how long I've been wrestling with myself over making prints of my paintings.

Because I paint myself, I have never bought prints, always original art.

Must be a bit of heat-stroke after yesterday's sunshine - but I've listed my very first print ever - it's from a pastels drawing I did ages ago and has always been a favourite of mine. For more info see here on Facebook

Hot Day

We had a BBQ yesterday - it was so hot it felt like the Bahamas (I have been there LOL). The actual BBQ hadn't been used for 2 years due to a distinct lack of summer weather!

You know those toys where you press underneath and they become all wobbly - that was how the BBQ was. So necessity being the mother of invention, I propped it up with a couple of chairs haha

At the end we had some bbqd bananas and my daughter made the most delicious sauce with butter, brown sugar, and cream (obviously the weight watchers variety)

Folksy Friday

Have a look at this artist's work - for Folksy Friday I've chosen this beautiful painting because of its strong colours and textures.

New Store

Did I mention that I opened a Facebook Store - Pavlova's Art Loft - only have a few items listed but loads more to do. It's free to list and no fees if you make a sale! Relatively easy to set up.

I've read of others who actually sell stuff there! Here's hoping....

It's here

This tote/shopping bag is listed on Folksy One

Pottery

I'm enjoying my pottery class and quite amazed at how my stuff is turning out! Haven't glazed anything yet as they still have to be fired.

Today I want to make chubby ladies, you know the ones with wrinkled stockings around their ankles, and their hair under a turban - can't wait!!

A Bit of a Moan

This week I think the gremlins have landed!  I had no broadband for 12 hours on Wednesday, then the TV went on the blink - so that's from Thursday evening and the technician is coming TOMORROW!! And did I mention the wireless router? Loads of problems and they've already exchanged it once although it was new.

And the frustration on the phone of having to wait till they go through all the options - the one I need is always the last!

I've sent a complaint to Virgin Media.

OK feeling better now I've got all that off my chest LOL.

Abstract or Not

I went to a gallery/shop yesterday with some of my art hoping they'd like it and take something. The owner said that her customers like representational art and so my abstracts wouldn't appeal. Are we abstract lovers out on a limb??

And my textile artwork was TOO RETRO. I don't much like modern or cutesy. It's times like these that make me reconsider what I'm doing and why I do it, and maybe that's not a bad thing!

So today I reworked an abstract painting and made recognizable elements in it - it's not finished yet but I'll post it when it's ready.
