Workshop on the Web (WOW)

I resumed my WOW sub this week - I'm pretty sure that lots of you are familiar with this online textile magazine but for anyone who isn't, there's a taster on the home page. It has fired me up again with loads of instructive projects with plenty of photos. I'm having a quiet day today indulging my muse - after I hoover LOL!!!

Does anyone remember 'carbon paper'?? I've been looking for it for months - it seems to have been swallowed up by "modernization". But, I found some coloured sheets of it in a charity warehouse and took 3 packets for the princely sum of 30 pence. Might go back and get some more!!

I've been tagged

My friend at Earthtonestudios has tagged me listing 7 facts about myself.

1. I love Carnation milk on stewed apples.

2. I have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren.

3. I like to create in silence, tried music but have the need to be quiet.

4. I have a pair of olive green slingback toeless shoes with platform soles and I feel like a 'Diva' in them.

5. I absolutely adore turbans and it's wonderful that they're a fashion statement this year.

6. I used to be a lover of green, but it has shifted to turquoise.

7. I prefer my dictionary and thesaurus in book form.

Now, if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged!!

The scan would be helpful!

Its_a_wing_thing My "BURDIE" -- there's so much to remember what with listing on Etsy, getting the size right for them, etc. etc. - whew, need a coffee or chocolate, or something LOL!¬

IT'S A WING THING - BURDIE art quilt

I've just finished and listed on ETSY another of my 'Burdies' art quilts - these are such fun to make and always with tongue in cheek!!!

My Rainy Day Book

I finished (well, I think it's finished LOL) my Cover Untitled1 Untitled2 Untitled3 Untitled4 Untitled5 Untitled6 Untitled7 Untitled8 Rainy Day Book today - it has dyed, painted and stamped pages with images stitched on. It has raw edges and I love that the pages are all different sizes -  a sort of "hobo" look.

Message for Val Edwards

I've tried 3 times today to reply to your email but it is returned undelivered. Do you have another email address I can try?

Still Feeling Stuffed!

My mother and I were invited to lunch today by a dapper young man with an expense account. We went to our favourite restaurant and munched through the menu washed down with the obligatory delicious red wine. I'd decided before we went that I would be good and not have dessert -- ha! famous last words, I never succumb to temptation unless I can't resist it!!! Of course, I haven't done anything faintly resembling creativity today - feeling good but still full up LOL.

Forgot ...

... to say that this new piece is on ETSY if you'd like more details.

Today's Offering

This is a vintage fabric piece with a fragment of my cousin's First Holy Communion veil and old metal drawer pull and faded lace - fun to make - I'm in my element when I've got the sewing stuff out although my art room didn't stay tidy for very long!!Les_girlstypepad

I've had the painter in these last few days and today is the first day without the stink of paint everywhere, what a relief. I needed compost to plant up the new bedding plants and the nice man gave me a bag of compost for free!! All because it had a tear in it but was still intact.

Grungy Canvas

I made this piece a while ago and was going to keep it, but there are so many things I want to display in my house that I had to decide which to sell. So 'Ramon' is offered on Etsy HERE Ramonepson2 - I'm trying so hard to be minimalist LOL.

Plastic Fantastic Link

Sorry, the link to the technique doesn't work - thanks Kari for letting me know. If you click on artezinecafe Yahoo Group, (assuming you're a member) go to ''files" then "A-E-Z Experimental Techniques" there are instructions, and Gillian has scaned her wallets - try this for yourselves, you'll be amazed!!

Plastic Fantastic

I'm hosting a swap for artezinecafe and we're creating grungy card wallets using the Plastic Fantastic Fabric Technique (see A-E-Z Experimental Techniques ) and I like them so much I've made myself some. Here are the first 2:Front1 Back1 Front2 Back2

How to ...

... get more visits to my blog, and how to get the ones who do visit to leave a comment?? Well, I found a useful book "BLOG ON" and have to really study chapter 10 -- Publicizing Your Weblog Site -- how to be seen, the art of conversation, get listed and searched, link and ping etc. etc. I promise to report on the application of their recommendations and if it works ..... I must confess that I browse others' blogs as time permits but often don't leave a comment - I'll try to do that!!

Little piece

I found this little painting whilst looking for something else - I don't remember when I painted it, anyway I decided to put it on ETSY. It's mixed media using watercolours and gouache, and I cut a new mount for it.Cottages

Passion Last Two

Five Six I've finished the last of the ATCs for swapping - same background as before - and lots of PASSION:

Passion

In a couple of weeks there's an annual stamp fair here in Edinburgh and a few of us meet up and exchange ATCs. This is the first time we're going with a theme which is 'Passion' - here are my first four:One Two Three Four Forgot to say that I've made them with a textured background using scraps of paper, glue, and embossing powder.

Fun ATCs

Since I've resigned from that swap, I decided to put some of the best ATCs (ACEOs) I'd already made on ETSY. Lulu Bette JaneGoldie_2 Ciao, ciao!!

Decisions, decisions

The swap of 60 ATCs began to nag at me and I'd already had serious doubts about the commitment. So, I resigned - it's unusual for me to give up on anything but I had to do this. I feel better now.

Piano Roll

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a piano roll on ebay I'd love to use it in my art but not sure how.  It is so pretty with red lines, green dots and of course the perforations. Does anyone have suggestions??Pianoroll_2

In the Swing!

I am in a productive frenzy here, got my studio all set up (in the dinng room) and have almost finished a painting I started last year - it just came together without too many changes of mind!

I also ripped off what I'd done on a wax canvas ages ago, that's the beauty of wax, it comes off easily. So I made a wax resist collage out of it and have put it on etsy, and here it is:Happydaystypepad

More Gesso ATCs

Well, it's been a busy couple of days with family and my mother's 92nd birthday. Had a delicious lunch today and felt no guilt as I munched heartily on lovely rich food topped off with 'creme brulee' which was heavenly!!!

But I did find a little time for some more ATCs and have to admit that I've had twinges of doubt "should I continue with this swap of 60??"Six  but I'm still in - here are the next six:

Tag and scanners

I've had so much trouble with this new HP scanner as it absolutely won't do 3D objects and results in out of focus scans. In the end and out of desperation, I took my old Epson (which wouldn't print any more but does scan) out of my rubbish bin and it worked beautifully - a pleasing end to a troublesome couple of days!! Here's a tag I made yesterday Tag1.

It's my mother's 92nd birthday tomorrow and we'll have some champers and nibbles to celebrate. Then on Saturday we're all going to a slap-up meal in an Italian restaurant. I've been on a sort of diet for about a week and have managed to lose a couple of pounds so I'll be able to indulge myself and have a wicked dessert LOL.
